Marvin Gaye — I Want You ... LP 9.99

An incredible record – quite possibly our favorite ever by Marvin Gaye! The album is quite unique – written by Leon Ware, and recorded in collaboration with him – done as a "suite" of tracks based on themes of passion, joy, and new love – all of which were very much on the mind of Marvin during his troubled years of the mid 70s. The whole thing's beautifully put together – superbly orchestrated with just the right funky touches, and even a sweet bit of electronics to give the set a nice edge. An amazing album – one of those soul records that goes deeper and deeper than you ever thought pop music could go – filled with great tracks that include "I Want You", "After the Dance", "Come Live With Me", and "Since I Had You". Genius – pure genius!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Motown/Universal (Japan), 1963. New Copy
One of the best of the 60s live sets from Motown – a sublime showcase for the talents of a young Marvin Gaye! There's a feel here that's a bit looser, and almost a bit rougher than some of Marvin's other records from the time – and there's almost a bit more force in his vocals than on ... CD

Greatest Slow Jams
Stax/Concord, 1970s. New Copy
We love The Dramatics in all their modes, but we're especially fond of the group when they're working with mellow tracks and ballads – because a slower pace really seems to open up their harmonies, and have them hitting even greater heights than on their groovers! This package is a dream ... CD

Sure, it was a hit – but it's also an excellent batch of jazzy soul, sung by one of the 70's greatest voices, backed by a sweet mellow vibe that's still influencing hip hoppers today. Includes the incredible track "Stop On By", plus the instrumental "Rufusized", "I'm ... CD

Early 70s Motown from David Ruffin – a pair of albums on a single CD! First up is a self-titled set from Motown giant Ruffin – and a record that pairs him with producer Bobby Miller, who'd worked some real late 60s magic with The Dells! As with that group, Miller has a wonderful way ... CD

One of our favorite soul records of the 70s – and one of the most unique albums ever cut by Motown, too! The lovely Syreeta steps out here with key studio help from then-partner Stevie Wonder – who makes things even more righteous and more cosmic than on any of his own 70s material ... CD
