Live At Slug's Saloon (6CD set)
CD (Item 475841) Transparency, 1972 -- Condition: New Copy
A massive amount of music from the Sun Ra Arkestra -- recorded at the legendary Slug's nightclub on two different nights in 1972! As with some of the other Transparency box sets on Ra, the presentation here is amazing -- a really full picture of the Arkestra at work, with all tracks recorded during the case of each night -- building things up in an amazing way, shifting through familiar themes and wonderful improvisational moments! The first performance is from June 7, and features Ra, Marshall Allen, Danny Davis, John Gilmore, Danny Ray Thompson, James Jacson, June Tyson, and others -- on titles that include "Scene N Take N", "They'll Come Back", "Discipline #?", "Theme Of The Stargazers", "Enlightenment", "Love In Outer Space", "The Shadow World", and a number of untitled tunes! The second performance is from August 19 -- and features Ra, Kwame Hadi, Akh Tal Ebah, Marshall Allen, John Gilmore, Eloe Omoe, Clifford Jarvis, June Tyson, and the "Space Ethnic Voices". Titles include "At First There Was Nothing", "Strange Worlds", "Percussion Episode", "Calling Planet Earth", "Angels & Demons At Play/Watusi", "Outer Space Is A Pleasant Place", "Discipline #27", "I'll Wait For You", "Space Is The Place", "Discipline 33", "Why Go To The Moon", and "Stardust From Tomorrow". 41 tracks on 6CDs! (Please note: This IS a professionally manufactured box set, not CDRs.) © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
