Satin Doll – Montmartre Jazzhus 1967
CD (Item 620032) Steeplechase (Denmark), 1967 — Condition: New Copy
Dexter Gordon at his late 60s best – really opening up in the friendly confines of the Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen – home to some of his greatest recordings of the time! The tunes are all quite long – the shortest almost 11 minutes, the longest almost 18 – and Gordon stretches out and soars wonderfully – showing that, if anything, his sense of imagination and creativity really blossomed during the time he spent on the European scene of the 60s. The rhythm group is nice and tight – Kenny Drew on piano, Bo Stief on bass, and the great Art Taylor on drums, giving the tunes and extra punch. Titles include "It's You Or No One", "Satin Doll", "Darn That Dream", and "Billie's Bounce". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
