CD (Item 607216) Ace (UK), Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Not just another chapter – but a set that's great enough to stand on its own – a massive amount of southern rock, soul, and rockin' soul from the legendary Ace Records – the Mississippi imprint that gave the UK reissue their famous name – paid tribute to by the latter in this overstuffed compilation of goodies! The set's a great illustration of the way that boundaries were often blurred in the southern scene of the late 50s and early 60s – a nearly color blind way of putting together records that partially came from the shared production settings, studio players, and songwriters too. Titles include "Yum Yum Yum" by Joe Tex, "Walk On" by Alvin Red Tyler, "Tee Na Na" by Dicky Williams, "Teen Age Wedding" by Johnny Angel, "Scald Dog" by Huey Smith, "Happy Sax" by Alvin Red Tyler, "Charlie Brown Got Expelled" by Joe Tex, "I Wanna Know Why" by Roland Cook, "Wherever You May Be" by Joe & Ann, "I'll Keep On Trying" by Eddie Bo, and "Walking With Frankie" by Frankie Lee Sims. CD also features 8 bonus tracks added to the original compilation – including "I Think You Jiving Me" by Huey & Jerry, "I Got The Blues For You" by Al Collins, "You Can't Stop Her" by Bobby Marchan, "Well O Well O Well O Baby" by Earl King, and "Aw Who" by Bat Carroll.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
