Folk
CD (Item 482340) Jazzland (Norway), 2009 — Condition: New Copy
No folk music here, but some hip cool jazzy grooves – served up by a very unique little trio! The group features violin and mandolin work from Ola Kvernberg, alongside drums and bass – both handled with a very bold, rhythmic feel! The album's got a subtle groove on most numbers – one that draws beautifully from the deep, warm tones of the bass, and is percolated a bit by the drums – to make a perfect setting for Kvernberg's moody lines on his stringed instruments, played here with a feel that's quite different than usual jazz modes. Titles include "Mia", "John", "Roland", "Tale", "Sara", "Arvo", and "Oscar". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
