Nice record by Brass Fever, and a one that was recorded before their more disco-y Time Is Running Out LP. The band includes a host of great horn players like George Bohannon, Jerome Richardson, Oscar Brashear, and John Handy – plus some good solos by Odell Brown on keyboards. Five long cuts, including covers of "Sunshine Superman" and "Lady Marmalade", plus the cuts "Djingi" and "Bach Bone". (NOTE – This is a white label promo in a plain sleeve.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sure, the group might have been a throwaway pop disco combo – but they sure left us with some nice moments! If you take them at face value, you'd put them at the bottom of a long list of 70s disco artists that were here today, gone tomorrow. But if you listen to some of their classic ... The third in a really great run from Rhythm Heritage – a group who continued to hold up a strong level of instrumental quality, despite the fact that they'd topped the charts, and were smack right in the middle of the LA studio scene at the time! More Than Yesterday
ABC, Late 60s. Good+
Wicked soul! Although you may know the huge pop hit "Our Day Will Come", Ruby & Co's biggest hit, this album's a totally lost killer, with a sweet harmony sound that's different than some of their work on Kapp. Sure, they're singing some pop hits – like "People", ... LP, Vinyl record album

Say You Love Me Too
ABC, 1973. Very Good
Weird mix of Philly soul production with vocals that have more of a southern soul kind of feel to them. Charles' voice is nice and rich, and the tracks are arranged by Vince Montana & Norman Harris. Includes some nice ballads, and a few uptempo tracks, including a Philly version of Steely Dan' ... LP, Vinyl record album

A really great post-Philly International album from Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes – the group's first after the departure of Teddy Pendergrass, and a set that shows them hardly missing a beat! There's no need for The Impressions to push from behind – because with a record like this, they're very firmly in the driver's seat! Early work from OV Wright – and some of his best recordings ever! The album's right out of the deep soul scene of the 60s – and has a warm, bubbling feel that's partly rootsy, but also a bit more sophisticated than a lot of other singers in Wright's camp at the time. Disco Connection
ABC, 1975. Very Good
Don't hold the "disco" in the title against Isaac – because the album's still a pretty nice one, and by no means a cheap sell-out affair! The set was recorded in Memphis, with backings by the classic Movement combo – and although the tunes do have a "sweetened" ... LP, Vinyl record album

A double album recorded for ABC after Charles left Warner Brothers and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band behind – but still very much an extension of that group's later stretched-out funky records! An early funk album by Bill Cosby – with backing by the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band! Bill was pals with Charles Wright and crew in the hip LA of the late 60s, and he was also responsible for bringing the group to Warner Brothers – so the fit here is quite a natural one. Seems throwaway from the package – which has a bare ass being spanked on the cover – but the album's actually a pretty slick batch of jazzy disco tracks from the great Rinder & Lewis team! The cornerstone of the album's the group's 10 minute groover "Le Spank" – a ... LP, Vinyl record album
