LP (Item 38108) Warner, 1977 — Condition: Used
The second album by this band of very successful studio players – and quite a big hit for the group! Players include Richard Tee, Cornell Dupree, Steve Gadd, and Eric Gale – and the record is a culmination of the players' long history of soul work during the 70s, particularly that which was done on LA sessions that were trying for a rootsy "authentic" feel. The group's at their best when they open up into a sweet CTI-type slick funk mode, grooving instrumentally with a nice warm electric finish. The best tracks have a great smooth jazz finish – like "Sometimes Bubba Gets Down", "And Here You Are", "Honey Coral Rock", and their cover of Stevie Wonder's "As". (Cover has light wear.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
