CD (Item 618143) Epic/Legacy, Late 70s — Condition: New Copy

A great run of music from keyboardist George Duke – his seminal 70s sides for Epic Records, which represent a huge step forward in Duke's career! George was already a well-experienced player by the time he hit Epic – with a string of jazz performances in the 60s, work with Frank Zappa's group, and some amazing keyboard experiments for MPS in the early part of the 70s. Yet at Epic, he really put it all together – and found a tight fusion of soul and jazz that really knocked it out of the park – music that could groove, yet still stretch out too – but with a focus that was much tighter than his jamming records that were big with the headphone crowd a few years before. There's a wealth of soulful energy flowing through the set – and a balance that few others were able to hit this well – spun out over a sextet of classic albums that include From Me To You, Reach For It, Don't Let Go, Follow The Rainbow, Master Of The Game, and A Brazilian Love Affair – all packaged in tiny LP-styled sleeves, in a box, with a booklet of notes!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
