Bill Dixon Collection – Music For Solo Trumpet
CD (Item 606536) Cadence, Early 70s — Condition: New Copy
Amazing sounds from the legendary Bill Dixon – 2CDs worth of solo trumpet performances, all recorded at Bennington College in the early 70s! Dixon's a player we've always found to be richly creative – but here, working without any other instrumentation at all, he really blows our mind – stretching out in different sonic textures and tones that seem to encompass a whole range of avant trumpet expression – almost a bold challenge to contemporaries like Leo Smith, Manfred Schoof, Harry Beckett, and others – but a private one, too – given that these original recordings were never designed for public consumption. There's some great echo used at points, which Dixon really plays with by creating some noise with his tone – and titles include "I See Your Fancy Footwork", "When Winter Comes", "Webern Work/Study", "Tracings", "Summerdance For Judith Dunn", "Masques 1", and "Swirls". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
