You Got To Move – Live Recordings Vol 1

LP (Item 598233) 50 Miles Of Elbow Room, 1970s — Condition: New Copy

A treasure trove of work from Rev Charlie Jackson – material that sits beautifully between blues and gospel, and which is pulled from Jackson's own cassette archives of performances from the 70s! Charlie plays some mighty mean guitar while he's preaching and singing – and often, the guitar takes over completely – burning with righteous fire in the spirit of the moment – with a gritty improvisational quality that's quite different than the usual gospel instrumentation! At other points, Jackson's earthy vocals take the lead more strongly – singing with deep bluesy undertones that evoke an era decades previous to the time of these recordings. Titles include "What A Time", "Morning Train", "Call Him By His Name", "Somewhere To Lay My Head", "You Got To Move", and "When I've Done The Best I Can I Want My Crown". Great LP package too – super-heavy cover, great vinyl, and a booklet too!  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
