Owwwww! We don't even need to call Cameo a guilty pleasure, because even though they always fell more on the commercial side of funk, we've never been embarassed by our appreciation of their slick, in-your-face style. This excellent 2 CD set covers just about their entire career, from their harder funkier roots in the early days, with numbers like "Rigor Mortis", "Post Mortem" and "Funk Funk", to the wigged early 80s dancefloor numbers "Shake Your Pants", "Freaky Dancin", and "Keep It Hot", to their later, bass heavy radio numbers like "She's Strange", "Attack Me With Your Love" and "Candy". Warm jazzy soul from Patti Austin – a record that still holds strongly in the sound she pioneered with GRP Records in earlier years, proof that Austin was one of the leading lights of the label during its classic years! There's a few tinnier keyboards here than a decade ago, but there's ... CD

Sure, it was the soundtrack to a film that flopped – but we remember this as one of our favorite Prince albums from the 80s! Includes the massively funky "Kiss", the closest Prince ever got to James Brown – and the whole album's got some great orchestral arrangements by Clare ... CD
