A very limited vinyl pressing of one of our favorite cassettes from the 80s – Touch 33, Islands In Between – originally released only on tape, and packaged as part of a special book too! In the initial days of the Touch label, the company had a great ear for collecting sounds and tunes from around the world – and this collection is key proof of that fact – almost a precursor to the initial efforts of Sublime Frequencies, but also more of a link to earlier ethnographic modes too – yet revolutionarily bringing out the sounds without any sort of cultural or historical framework – which forces you to just jump into the music! Most sounds here were recorded in Bali and Java – with the same sonic sensibilities that made early Touch records so great – and which showed that their explorations of Indonesian music were quite different than the sounds of Nonesuch! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
