Fania Live 03 – From The Fresh Coast – DJ Sake1Various

DJ Sake1 isn't a name we readily associate with Latin music, but he does a pretty great job here on this entry in the Fania Live series – by serving up a salsa-heavy batch of tracks with a nicely rootsy feel overall! The mix has a much more organic quality than some of the other Fania mixes of late – as each new track slides sweetly and subtly from the next, with less of a sense of Sake's craft, and more of a feel that you might get if you were hearing these groups jam one after another in a club. There's a few remix touches that include occasional sound samples or added beats, but these are relatively small overall. CD features 16 tracks in all – with titles that include "Watergate" by Tipica 73, "La Murga" by Willie Colon, "Si Estas Herido" by Tommy Olivencia, "La Revolucion" by Orchestra Harlow, "Herba Buena" by George Guzman, "Indestructible" by Ray Barretto, "Justicia" by Eddie Palmieri, "Ghana'E" by Willie Colon, "Botanica" by Ismael Miranda, and "Paz" by Orquesta Flamboyan. © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
