My Funny Valentine – Live 1955 to 1959
CD (Item 600894) Kayo, Late 50s — Condition: New Copy
Not much in the way of notes, but some great live material from Anita O'Day – tracks that are arguably even groovier than her famous Verve studio sides of the time! There's a really solid, really swinging feel to most of this work – tight, small combo jazz backings that really set Anita's vocals loose, and let her open up with the vibrant, vivid style that shows off the best side of her singing techniques – a mode that sometimes didn't always come across this strongly in albums of more staid standards in the studio. Titles include "Have You Met Miss Jones", "Four Brothers", "You're The Top", "Love Me Or Leave Me", "The Man I Love", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", and "S'Wonderful/They Can't Take That Away From Me". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
