Sweet smooth and funky work from Eddie Henderson – a nice move from his more righteous work of the mid 70s, into an R&B-tinged sound that would take him far in years to come! The sound is surprisingly great, and still pretty darn righteous – thanks to some great production by Skip Drinkwater – working with Eddie in the same funky fusion mode as on his records with Bobbi Humphrey from the same time. There's a warm compressed groove to the session that's really great – and Eddie's working with a top-shelf batch of players that include Patrice Rushen, Paul Jackson, Julian Priester, and George Cables. Titles include "Movin On", "Say You Will", "Source", "Open Eyes", and "Beyond Forever". (Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has wear, some staining, and a bit of seam splitting.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Fantasy, 1974. Near Mint-
We have to admit we've always been somewhat dismissive of Merl Saunders 70s records, perhaps because of the hippy association we have with these bay area recordings. Workin' Out!
Prestige, 1965. Very Good-

The firey Bobby Timmons is at the height of his career here – cutting long drawn-out piano grooves that are among some of the best of his young years. Lytle's always a killer – and his funky vibes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1968. Near Mint-
A very groovy album that has Milt playing jazzy vibes with a tight string quartet that does more than just back him up – they sort of solo and provide some rhythm, too, and give the whole album a very very cool sound. The rest of the lineup's great, too, because James Moody is all over the ... LP, Vinyl record album
