4.80 10

The grandest scale and most elaborately furnished Black Sabbath album to this point – but they still bring the heavy! The title track is one of the most influential metal songs ever, with the foreboding lyrics, trudging stomp of a rhythmic pace and those bridges that are almost pretty – and the most of the rest of the album is great, too – more carefully produced than the previous few without compromising the menace. Titles include "A National Acrobat", "Fluff", "Sabbra Cadabra", "Spiral Architect", "Looking For Today", and "Who Are You".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Puzzle
Poppy, 1970. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)
Way more than just the standard psych album of the time – and instead a richly-orchestrated album with sounds as complicated as the MC Escher cover image! Ron Frangipane and Brooks Arthur both helped out in the studio – and the set's got a clarity of vision that's way different than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Suicide
Red Star, 1976. New Copy (reissue)
Frankie, Frankie – OW! Take a broken down synth, some crazy vocals, and a rich sense of imagination – and you've got one of the seminal groups of the New York scene of the early punk years. Suicide were a seminal bridge between earlier prog underground sounds and the art-rock punk ... LP, Vinyl record album

On Records, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
Early 70s psych folk from DR Hooker – looking pretty biblical in the cover photo – with a spiritual tilt to some of the lyrics, but in a pretty tripped out way – and a wild mix of styles, from easygoing, approachable folk pop, to untamed, fuzzed out psychedelia! We were expecting ... LP, Vinyl record album

Warner (Australia), Mid 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold
Not the kind of boogie that most of us associate with the sound of discos at the end of the 70s, but a unique moment in Australian rock of that same decade – a return to older roots mixed with heavy freak and fuzz – all in a freehweeling style that really gave the down-under scene a ... GP (180 gram pressing)
Warner, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
The seminal Gram Parsons solo debut, and arguably his most consistant post-Burritos album. GP is pretty much the record that put the country in country rock – with a sharp steel guitar cry throughout, an unpretentious proud/poor delivery, and those sweet harmonies with Emmylou Harris. Warner (Australia), 1970s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold
Here's a world we really don't know at all – but which really comes alive, thanks to the strength of the compilation! Australia's been home to lots of famous global acts over the years, but back in the 70s it was a real hotbed of hipster material in a country vein – work that's like ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mapeche (Spain), 1974. New Copy (reissue)
A great set of rare Canadian psych folk from the early 70s – rawly beautiful work that's way too good to have languished in the purgatories of general obscurity and collectors' hopes and dreams! Upon A Once Time is an all acoustic set, a good deal of it just Huckle's airy voice and guitar, ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mapeche (Spain), 1976. New Copy (reissue)
The second of the 2 great lost Canadian psych folk records by Huckle! Ardent/4 Men With Beards, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
The amazing first album from Big Star – a set that came out of nowhere, made hardly a ripple on the charts, yet went onto crash in big waves of sound for generations to come!
