Shangaan ShakeVarious
CD (Item 603144) Honest Jons (UK), 2012 — Condition: New Copy
A double-length set of really creative sounds – all reworks and homages of tracks from the Shangaan Electro compilation – put together by a host of contemporary talents! The original South African grooves are already pretty striking – heavy on electronics, and often using the same over the top sort of feel you'd expect from some of the booty-shaking work from Brazil in recent years. But the new versions here really push things over the top – taking core elements from the original tunes by BBC, Zinja Hlungwani, Mancingelani, and Tshetsha Boys – and really pushing them to their limit in a frenzy of fierce sounds! Music here is handled by Theo Parris, Actress, Rashad & Spinn, Peverelist, Demdike Stare, Burnt Friedman, RP Boo, Actress, Hype Williams, Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, and MMM – and the set's a double-length package for a very nice price. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
