Soul Rock
CD (Item 478187) Simba, 2008 — Condition: New Copy
Oakland's Kofy Brown is back with the righteous, moody and hard grooving Soul Rock – a solid set that takes more of a live band approach – focused on a unique soul sound, with some funk and little bit of rock! We heard raves about Kofy's live show before we even heard the first album, so it's a natural progression to make a more of band based record, and the songs are solid and built around Kofy's deep soul vocals. From the fuzzy electric guitar on the opener "Skalet Stew", to some really inspired elements such as violin on a couple tracks, Kofy takes some eclectic twists and turns – but tight songcraft and deeply resonating soulfulness keeps it all together nicely! Titles include "Skarlet Stew", "Lost Child", "My Own Time", "Getting Low", "The River", "Know Me No More", "Greedy People", "What We Need", "My Friend" and more. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
