Boys Can Be So Mean – 60 Fabulous Femme Pop Gems From The Red Bird, Vee Jay, Sound Stage 7, and Fire & Fury Labels – 1961 to 1967Various
CD (Item 609212) Snapper (UK), 1960s — Condition: New Copy
A heady helping of heartbreaking soul – either sung by girl groups, or solo gals on their own – and mostly pulled from the glory days of New York pop in the 60s! There's a massive amount of great numbers here – and although the set's heavy on soul music, lots of tracks here also crossed over big at the time – and are then mixed with some great obscure gems to really keep things interesting – a whopping 60 tracks in all, put together with that great sense of scope we've come to love in classic Charly Records compilations! Titles include "A Spanish Boy" by The Rubies, "Take Me For A Little While" by Evie Sands, "Boys Can Be So Mean" by Sugar & Spices, "Golden Records" by Judy Thomas, "A Lover's Plea" by Barbara Green, "Please Don't Go" by Yvonne Carroll, "You Hit Me Like TNT" by Linda Jones, "I'm Just A Down Home Girl" by The Ad Libs, "SPCLG" by The Society Girls, "Ain't That Love" by The Bouquets, "Little Bell" by The Dixie Cups", "Puppet" by The Clinger Sisters, "No Guy" by The Honey Bees, "Second Best" by Barbara Jackson, and "It Sounds Like My Baby" by Bessie Banks. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
