Ciao Ragazzo – Chico Buarque & Gli Amici Italiani
CD (Item 592220) WEA (Italy), 1996 — Condition: New Copy
A really great recording from the legendary Chico Buarque – a live set recorded in Italy, a country where Chico's always had plenty of fans and supporters! The format is quite interesting – in that the first half is done by "amici" of Chico – Italian artists who perform their own takes on Buarque's compositions – usually in a relatively spare, sensitive way that's somewhere in the more sensitive side of bossa nova, often with a lot of great acoustic guitar providing flourishes – either instrumentally upfront, or alongside the vocals. Then, Chico takes center stage on the second half – working with a small acoustic combo, in a way that makes the record easily one of Buarque's most striking albums from the time! There's a personal, earnest feel to the music that matches the best of Chico's early recordings – and which represents a style he hadn't used in years on Brazilian records – making this Italian show a really essential gem. Buarque Titles include "Ela Desatinou", "Eu Te Amo", "Joana Francesa", "Futuros Amantes", "Vai Passar", "Anema E Core", and "Genova Per Noi". Other selections include "Samba De Orly" by Armando Corsi, "Pedro Pedreiro" by Enzo Jannacci, "Tatuaggio" by Tosca, "Ninna Nanna" by Grazi Di Michele, and "Que Sera" by Irio De Paula. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
