CD (Item 504549) Trama (Brazil), 2009 — Condition: New Copy

One of the most soulful sets we've heard in years from Ed Motta – almost a return to his roots as the heir apparent of Brazilan soul back in the 90s – but with some of the best sophisticated touches that Ed's brought to his work in recent years too! The album's a brilliant balance of both Motta modes – with enough grooves to re-introduce Ed to a wider global audience, way past the barrier of language – especially the American soul crowds who first fell in love with Motta's records a decade or so ago. Yet it's also got all the warmth and deeper jazzy sensibilities that we've watched come into Ed's music since that time too – a sense of complexity that not only marks him as one of the most creatively vibrant artists of his generation, but one who's also willing to take a lot of chances too! Brilliant throughout – with cuts that include "Piquenique", "O Mestre E O Aprendiz", "Neferetiti", "Tanto Faz", "Carencia No Frio", "Pe Na Jaca", "Mensalidade", "Minha Vida Toda Com Voce", and "A Turma Da Pilantragem".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
