Mayafra
LP (Item 12907) Right Tempo (Italy), 1977/1994 — Condition: New Copy
Beautiful reissue of this lost Italian funky jazz classic. The Mayafra combo groove along in the same sort of Fender Rhodes/percussion vibe that characterized the work of The Cabildos, or which is reappearing in some of the newer Italian groups. But unlike either of those, the Mayafra Combo plays very long tracks, with a laidback sound that bubbles under in a draw-out funky kind of way. The lineup is electric piano, bass, and percussion, plus occasional female vocals. Tracks include "Damballah", "Iffilah Ha Ha", and "Mayafra Blues Waltz". The CD's great, and the whole thing moves like few other Italian records we've heard from this time! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
