LP (Item 575410) Bouzouki Joe, Late 60s/1970s — Condition: New Copy

A second set of Turkish psychedelia from the 70s in the Turkish Freakout series – great stuff that really covers a lot of terrain stylistically – with a few names that'll be recognizable to lovers of the panoramic Middle Eastern grooves of the era, and a bunch more that we're being introduced to for the first time! One of the great things about the material is that it's not dipping into psyche era trippiness in a shtick-y way at all – it's genuinely creative music that's works with more tradition Turkish folk elements and instrumentation – but fearlessly and brilliantly fuses it with psych, funk, pop, rock and folk. Male and female vocalists are featured, and instrumentation twists and turns in fascinating ways throughout – from Turkish psyche soul groovers to belly dance rhythms, spacey keys floating over buzzing strings, synths, flute and horns with uber melodic melodies and more – all with a uniquely Middle Eastern vibe permeating through. 16 tracks on the 2LP version: "Yarim Gitti Cesmeye" by Afet Serenay, "Estergon Kalesi" by Baris Manco, "Bari Bari" by Gulcan Opel, "Obur Dunya" by Cem Karaca & Mogollar, "Sevgili Golgem" by Sirin, "Viens Dans Ma Vie" by Kenan and more.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
