CD (Item 393585) El (UK), Late 60s — Condition: New Copy

Sublime vocal chorus work from 60s arranger Johnny Mann – leader of the Johnny Mann Singers, a group who took the hokier sounds of earlier eras and gave them a nice Sunshiney twist! Mann's format here is one used by The Ray Charles Singers and a variety of other successful male/female pop vocal ensembles of earlier years – but the overall feel of the set is much more mod and 60s swinging, not just in the choice of songs (which is great), but also in the nicely punctuated backings, which help take the once-sleepy style into a livelier mode that's got plenty of groovy appeal! CD features 23 tracks pulled from Johnny's late 60s Liberty recordings – including "Mrs Robinson", "The Girl From Ipanema", "Call Me", "Snow", "To Sir With Love", "Up Up & Away", "Cherish", "Windy", "What The World Needs Now", "Taste Of Honey", and "The Worst That Could Happen".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
