Great work from Noel Pointer – one of the leading lights in the United Artists soul spectrum at the end of the 70s! As with other Pointer sets from the time, there's a pretty strong fusion undercurrent here – a groove that's built up from Noel's own work on electric violin, plus some great keyboards from Richard Tee and Patrice Rushen. But there's also a nicely clubby feel too – a groove on longer tracks that's supplied by arranger Paul Riser, who further underscores the most soulful elements of the set. Pointer handles lead vocals on a few tracks, but there's also some great backing vocals on most numbers too – some of which are sung by The Jones Girls.
