A pretty great little album from Bonfa – always one of the more corruptible bossa players, working here in a groovy set of pop arrangements by Deodato with a lively American twist! Some tunes are fast-driving bossa numbers with good jazz accompaniment, others have backing vocals in a wordless 60s style, and others are mellow and gentle. The best of these latter ones is "Oba Oba", which has great duet vocals by Pat Kirby and Bonfa – and other titles include "Coffee Beans", "Gentle Rain", "Batuque", "Summer Summer Wind", "Be Still", and "Love Birds". Ranwood, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
Very cool album recorded by Luiz Bonfa in the US, with cool electric arrangements by Deodato, and a sound that's unlike anything else he's ever done! Some tracks even get downright funky, and there's a nice break or two on here, if you're the type that digs for that sort of thing. Titles include ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great live set of tracks from the three artists mentioned above – lively samba tunes, but with the groovier twists that you'd find on work on the Odeon label at the time. Production is excellent, and the tracks have a mixture of raw percussion and sweet vocals that really make them sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

As Forcas Da Natureza
Odeon (Brazil), 1977. Very Good- Gatefold
One of the more far-reaching albums by Clara Nunes – a mixture of samba tracks, rootsy rhythms, and larger arrangements handled by the likes of Radames Gnatalli, Sivuca, Gaya, and others. Tracks include "Coisa Da Antiga", "As Forcas Da Natureza", "Perdao", " ... LP, Vinyl record album

Minnie Riperton's first album for Epic – and the record that broke her from a hip Chicago underground artist into one of the seventies' biggest soul divas! The record moves past the baroque soul of Minnie's early years with Rotary Connection and Charles Stepney – and hits a mix of ... LP, Vinyl record album
