A great mix of jazzy and exotic themes from the legendary Sonny Lester – an album that's recorded around the same time as his classic strip and belly dance sessions, but which we like a heck of a lot better than those albums! The groove here is very tight and focused – a big band, but one with great Hammond organ in the mix, lots of percussion, and some leaner guitar solo work from Al Caiola – all served up with echoey production that really helps augment the mood of the evocative tunes on the set. The CD features a whopping 18 tracks in all – all with sounds as groovy as their titles – and titles include "Ali Baba Cake Walk", "Mocha Jazz", "Id", "Desert Love", "Dance Of The Beggars", "El Relicario", "Habanera", "Farewell To Port Said", and "Oasis". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
