Tangerue/Strange Affair – Disco Recharge

Two rare ones from the glory days of the Canadian disco scene – brought together on one CD with bonus tracks too! Tangerue is a weird blend of disco and Latin modes – particularly merengue and tango, but both used very sparingly – almost as minor cultural references that bubble up from time to time in the soaring, extended disco modes we've come to love from Canadian grooves of the time! Tracks are all nice and long, with a good focus on instrumentation that really knows how to build things up in great layers – on titles that include "Everynight Everyday", "Dance With Me", "Tangerue", and "Doin Your Own Thing" – plus the bonus "Tangerue Medley". Strange Affair is the second album from this Canadian studio group – one that features a variety of different singers, but a unified groove that comes from really tight instrumentation at the bottom. Most numbers have a chorus singing the vocals, over nicely driving rhythms – and titles include "Bad Connection", "Love Is A Strange Affair", "No No No", "I'm Ready/Disco Star", and "Don't Stop The Music" – plus the bonus track "Bad Connection (original 12" mix)". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
