Easy grooving magic from Paul Horn – a record that has his exotic flute work paired up with arrangements by Oliver Nelson – making for a session that's got a lot more punch than usual for Horn – in a mode that we like quite a lot! The flute's in the lead on all tracks, but the Nelson arrangements are equally striking – and filled with nice touches like Eastern instrumentation or 60s mod rhythms – really making for a lot of tight groovers that really differ from Horn's other work. The set features a few great originals – arranged by Horn with a feel that's even trippier than Nelson's work – and titles include "Acapulco Gold", "Paramahansa", "Guv Gubi", "Karen's World", "Girl", and "Eight Miles High". (Black label stereo pressing with deep groove.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
