An all-star soul affair produced by Quincy Jones, and featuring the talents of studio greats like Harvey Mason, Billy Cobham, Toots Thielmans, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, and many others – not to mention the Brothers themselves! We'll be honest, though, in saying that we really think it's the great jazzy backing and the tight arrangements by Quincy that make this record so great. The Brothers' bass and vocal work is fine – but it's the non-bass instrumental moments that really make this album great, as you'll hear on cuts like the moog-heavy "Tomorrow", or the timbales/keyboard/flute groover "Thunder Thumbs & Lightnin Licks". Great stuff if you dig mid 70s work by Q – and featuring the tracks "I'll Be Good To You", "Land Of Ladies", "Free & Single", "Get The Funk Out Ma Face", and "The Devil". (Cover has some ring & edge wear, with some marker on the front. Label has some marker.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Polydor, 1976. Near Mint-
An enduring classic from James Brown – quite possibly the strongest of his late 70s albums, and a record that nicely balances the harder funk of the early part of the decade with a more sophisticated style that almost gets slightly jazzy at times! The vocals are planted strongly at the top ... LP, Vinyl record album

You're So Beautiful
Warner, 1971. Very Good+ Gatefold
The last album recorded by Charles Wright with the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band – and a set that's even more stretched out and trippy than their other albums! Gone are the tight short cuts of earlier days, and in their place are longer messed-up funky numbers that have more of a jamming ... LP, Vinyl record album

Atco, 1970. Very Good+
Obscure LA pop soul group that featured singer Jerry Peters (who later went onto record under his own name), and who were "presented" by Sonny & Cher! The feel of the tracks are a bit in the 5th Dimension/Friends Of Distinction LA sound, with a bit more soul. Peters did the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wonderful work from Ingram – an incredibly talented soul family who'd spent more than enough time woodshedding in earlier years, and emerged to become one of the strongest mainstream acts of the 80s scene!
