LP, Vinyl record album

4.80 11

Although this set was issued by Buddah in 1970, it's a great set featuring some of the earliest work that the Five Stairsteps recorded for Curtis Mayfield's Windy C label during the late 60s, under his production talents as well! We love all of the Burke brothers albums, both as a group and solo, and this one has their fine harmonies dressed up nicely in some sweet Windy City soul arrangements! 14 numbers in all, including "World Of Fantasy", "Danger! She's A Stranger", "Playgirls Love", "Behind Curtains", "Ooh Child", "We Must Be In Love", "Ooh Baby Baby", "(Baby) Make Me Feel So Good", "You Waited Too Long", "Playgirl's Love", "Stay Close To Me", and "Don't Waste Your Time".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Black Motion Picture Experience
Buddah, 1973. Near Mint-
A cover record – but a great one! Unlike some of the Pickwick knock-off albums from the time, this blacksploitation effort by Cecil Holmes is top-shelf all the way – as Cecil's one of the best funky bandleaders of the early 70s. The large group on the album features funky keyboards by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Burning Of Atlanta
Buddah, 1973. Very Good+
Totally great – and a record you probably know nothing about! The album's one of the greatest ever to come out of the Hotlanta scene of the 70s – a tight batch of funk tracks with a heck of a lot of guitar. The set was produced by Tommy Stewart, of "Bump and Hustle" fame ... LP, Vinyl record album

Buddah/Arista, Late 70s/Early 80s. Very Good
10 tracks from Phyllis' years at Buddah and Arista – some of her finest work, and most of it an extremely unique blend of smooth jazz and modern R&B, done in a style that many tried to copy over the years. The tracks are produced by the likes of Skip Drinkwater, Mtume, and Chuck Jackson ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stairsteps (1970)
Buddah, 1970. Very Good-
A nice one from the Five Stairsteps – and even if the cover has them looking like a bunch of gangsters, the music's still sweet sweet soul, with a good Chicago groove! The band are clearly trying to grow up here – dropping the "five" from their name, and trying to look all ... LP, Vinyl record album

Just For You
Capitol, 1980. Near Mint-
Killer work from The McCrarys – a soul group rooted in gospel, and one who really came into their own once they made the move to Capitol Records! The album's bubbling over with warm sounds over sweet 80s grooves – all arranged and produced by Patrick Henderson – who helps the ... LP, Vinyl record album

RCA, 1981. Sealed
A great 80s groove from Thelma Houston – a set with arrangements that are leaner and meaner than before, still topped with those amazing soul diva vocals!
