Stan Getz On Roost Vol 2 – Split Kick
CD (Item 593025) Roost/Roulette (Japan), 1951/1952 — Condition: New Copy
One of the greatest early albums by Stan Getz – graced by a famous cover that has Stan drinking a glass of milk – which was a real in-joke if you knew his habits at the time! Horace Silver is on piano on most tracks, but a bit more restrained than on his Blue Note sides, although still mighty nice – and other players include Duke Jordan on piano on some other tracks, plus Jimmy Raney on guitar – lending his instrument to Getz, and really helping Stan find that key early blend of his tenor with guitar – a sound that was quite groundbreaking for him in the 50s! Titles include "Split Kick", "It Might As Well Be Spring", "The Best Thing For You", "Potter's Luck, "Fools Rush In", "On The Alamo", and "Penny" – and CD feature some alternate takes, too! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
