Le Rire Des Camisoles
CD (Item 599919) Futura (France), Early 70s — Condition: New Copy
Rare work by an incredibly compelling French group from the early 70s – one who are more in an avant jazz and experimental mode than most of their European contemporaries! There's a really playful style going on here – one that's almost dadaist at times, and which is possibly most close to the work of Captain Beefheart for any sort of reference – but which is also different, too, given that most of the group's songs are incredibly short – many moving just for a minute or two, which creates a strong sense of dynamic activity for the record. Instrumentation is often heavy on guitar and keyboards – but with the short space of the tunes, there's very little jamming – and lots more complex short progressions. Reportedly, they were made a big offer by Virgin to record – but never did at the time, as they swore to not make an album until the year 2000! Fortunately, Futura records unearthed these rare studio/demo tapes – so we've got some document of their genius – 24 songs that include "Dubble Pepee Blues", "Automne Aux Pekins", "Joli Fred", "Country Club", "Cagagnasse", "Le Dandy Freak D'Anduze", "Barricade 2 Galles 1", and "Du Ragout Et Des Couleurs". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
