Soundtrack For The Sound Eye
CD (Item 502112) Ricky Tick (Japan), 2009 -- Condition: New Copy
An amazing step forward for Dalindeo -- a set that's even more beautiful and complex than previous efforts for the Ricky Tick label! This time around, the style's billed as "cinematic jazz" -- and you can definitely hear that approach in the music -- a rich blend of live jazz instrumentation with more complicated charts -- all at a level that mixes modal Ricky Tick grooves with some of the darker, more expressive sounds you'd hear on some rare 60s European film scores! The album was created and executed across the space of three cities -- Paris, Helsinki, and Berlin -- and instrumentation includes guitar and electric piano from Dalindeo leader Valtteri Poyhonen, plus trumpet, tenor, flute, and lots of great bass and percussion. Bajka guests on vocals on two tracks -- but most of the album's instrumental -- and Timo Lassy also plays some guest baritone sax too. Other augmented players bring in Hammond, vibes, and cello -- and titles include "Vintage Voyage", "Herrmann", "Words Unspoken", "Mr JL", "Two Down One To Go", "Another Devil", "Take Cover", "Willpower", "New Creation", and "Belleville Pantin". © 1996-2009, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | ||||||
