7-inch (Item 589009) Numero, Late 60s/Early 70s — Condition: New Copy

Messed up funky soul from the Chicago scene – a beautiful package of rare singles from Little Ed & The Soundmasters! The style here is a bit hard to describe – as Ed and crew were schooled in blues, but brought up during the 60s soul underground – and clearly managed to pick up plenty of trippier elements from their generation as well! There must have been some heavy smoke in the studio when these grooves were recorded – because they've got plenty of cool effects on the guitars, and a weird echoey quality in lots of the production – pretty amazing stuff that's unlike most of the funk we've heard from the time. As usual, Numero have done a wonderful job with the whole thing – bringing together 6 rare tracks on 3 funky 45s – complete with a lovely box, and a detailed 7" booklet too. One track features Johnny Dollar – and titles include "Your Love Has Got Me", "Struggling For Survival", "It's A Dream", "The Ghetto Grind", and "Petite Soul".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
