Rare compositions by Caetano Veloso – recorded with a rich, yet subtle approach to the material! Vocalist Claudia has a great way of balancing emotion and some of the more sensitive aspects of Veloso's music – a bit like Maria Bethania in her later years, where restraint actually seems to bring more depth to a recording! Instrumentation is relatively spare – creating a strong focus on the voice and Veloso's great lyrics – and although a recent recording, there's a definite classic feel to the record, one that really matches the old school cover image.
