They call it crossover, we call it great – a wonderful assortment of rare soul treasures from the late 60s and early 70s, most of them in a mellow midtempo groove! The term "crossover" isn't used as the way we'd use it here – in that these aren't commercial hits from the mainstream. Instead, they've got a great vibe that takes them past some of the harder dancefloor numbers of the period – warm enough to win the heart of just about any listener, with a sweet groove that really gets you from the start! Many of the tracks are from the east coast scene of the early 70s – but there's also some key Chicago and Detroit numbers too – and titles include "Crying Time Is Over" by Tony Love, "Without You Here" by Gene Chandler, "Who Will Do Your Running Now" by Marvin Smith, "It Could've Been Me" by Erma Franklin, "Ain't It Funny What Love Can Do" by Kenny Young, "Don't You Wake Me" by 100 Proof Aged In Soul, "I Don't Need Nobody" by Gloria Edwards, "Lovely Woman" by Eldridge Holmes, and "The Sweetest Thing" by Channel 3.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Schema (Italy), Early 70s. New Copy
Stunning compilation of Italian grooves from the early 70's – and one that has a slightly different twist than some of the other one's we've been stocking. The folks at Schema have put this one together, and the set's got a feel that's similar to some of the newer releases they've been ... CD
Schema (Italy), 2000. New Copy
A fantastic collection of rare bossa material from Italy! The set's one of the best we've ever seen of this type, and it's a completely fresh batch of tunes that breaks past a lot of the other Italian compilations of recent years. Some of the artists are familiar names – like Morricone, ... CD
Jazzclub (Germany), 1960s/1970s. New Copy
A very hip collection of older funky cuts – ones that have been sampled in recent years by hip hoppers, but which stand up plenty darn great on their own! Most tracks here should be quite familiar from recent uses of their key elements, but they sparkle even more brightly here in their ... CD
Soul Brother (UK), 1970s/1980s/1990s. New Copy
Afro-centric jazz from the 70s through the 90s – a real spiritual journey in music, compiled from a host of hard to find records, most of which are long out of print! The music on the collection is from three different decades, but the set's got a wonderfully unified feel – thanks to a ... CD
Columbia/Big Break (UK), 1979. New Copy
Our favorite album ever from Tyrone Davis – even if it's completely different than most of his other work too! The set's got a wonderfully smooth feel right from the start – a mellow-grooving, slow-stepping approach that works perfectly for Tyrone's wonderful vocals – pushing ... CD
Philadelphia International/Big Break (UK), Early 70s. New Copy
One of Billy Paul's greatest albums ever – or perhaps the greatest! The record is an amazing blend of soul, jazz, and a soaring sense of spiritualism that's not only rare for Billy Paul – but which makes the record sound different than any other Philly International LP from the time! ... CD
