Today's sound – by a really classic-styled group! The Intensive Jazz Sextet were one of the first great combos to come out of the Italian scene in the mid 90s – that time when a rare few were taking things back to basics after years of Italian club – and starting to re-explore the rich tradition of Italian jazz, funk, and Brazilian grooves! The IJS work in a tight blend of all three – using great instrumentation that's heavy on Fender Rhodes, flute, and Brazilian rhythms – all wrapped up in a warm blend of bossa and jazz that's way more 70s-sounding than you'd guess from the date of the recording. The set features early vocals from Rosalia De Souza on one cut – and was put together by Nicola Conte!
