CD (Item 563745) Enja (Germany), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
A compelling blend of clarinets – some of the richest work on the reed instrument you're likely to hear since the early experiments of Jimmy Giuffre – but put together with some great global touches as well! The ensemble features three reed players – also working with some bass and piccolo clarinet, too – given support by percussion and some especially great bass, which really helps shape the rhythms of the tunes as the clarinets are set free! There's definitely an exotic feel to the music – but the approach is still mostly jazz-based, and not any sort of world music hybrid – as you'll hear on cuts that include "Djebel", "Sables", "Voilee", "Praia", "Gankino", "Treve", and "Don Quichotte". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
