Se Taire Pour Une Femme Trop Belle
CD (Item 599918) Futura (France), 1971 — Condition: New Copy
A bit avant jazz, a bit more experimental, and a really interesting little record from the heady French scene of the early 70s! There's a strong post-1968 sense of freedom going on here – one that moves past easy structures and labels, through an ever-shifting lineup of instrumentation that includes piano, guitar, violin, voice, and lots of cool sounds and effects – little touches of noise that mix in beautifully with the sometimes-poetic lyrics – and which give the record a feel that's quite different than most of its contemporaries. The set has less of the heavy aggression of the prog scene, and is free from the overindulgence of the French hippie scene – and, if anything, almost points the way more towards art music experiments in the generation to come – such as some of the groundbreaking work on the Nato label. Titles include "Magic Bag", "Amour Gel", "Mirroir Nageait Dans Le Lac Du Bois De Boulogne", "Barbara Lowengreen Speed-Way", and "Derriere Le Paravent". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
