Salome Bey Sings Songs From Dude
LP (Item 8130) Kilmarnock, 1973 — Condition: New Copy
A set of tracks from Galt MacDermot's musical Dude – co-written with Hair lyricist Jerome Ragni, and featuring vocals by Salome Bey (of Andy & The Bey Sisters fame!) Galt did the music, and the group includes him, Bernard Purdie, Cornell Dupree, and has backup vocals by Cissy Houston and Joshie Armstead – all working nicely together in a style that's got some righteous touches that give the album a nice sort of Atlantic 70s soul sound. Salome sings deep and soulfully – in a mode that recalls her work with the Bey Sisters group, but in a mode that's more soul-based – and tracks include "Boo Boo", "Happy Song", "Jazz Bridge", "At Home", "No One", and "A Garden For Two". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
