First Album (1973)
LP (Item 565580) Analog Africa (Germany), 1973 — Condition: New Copy
Incredible West African grooves from Benin's Orchestre Poly-Rythmo De Cotonou – as hypnotic as any early 70s Afro sounds we can think of, and that's really saying something given the creative fertility of the period! The material here was recorded in Lagos, and was released the group's very rare first album in 1973 – a 4 song album that makes for one heck of an amazing 33+ minutes of unique Afrobeat! It was recorded in 2 separate sessions: "Ou C'est Lui Ou C'est Moi" and the incredible 12+ minute "La La La La" are versions from the original, uber-rare LP release on the Albarika Store label, while "Yeye We Nou Mi" and "Egni Miton? Nin Mi Na Wa Gbin" (both 6+ minutes long) are versions from a test pressing version that have not seen release before now. It's all newly remastered and sounds amazing! We couldn't be more thrilled with this post-millennium global re-discovery of Vincent Ahehehinnou & the Orchestre Poly-Rythmo – and we owe Analog Africa a great debt of gratitude for that! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
