Richard Twice
LP (Item 608138) Philips, 1970 — Condition: Used
Two Richards – Richard Atkins & Richard Manning – working here together in a sweet duo style that often has them harmonizing nicely on the vocals! The approach is a bit like some of the smoother, more professionally crafted pop that would show up more in 70s mainstream rock – but here, it's a bit more rough-edged and earnest – kind of soft-psyche, and served up with some great added strings and horns on some of the album's best tracks. There's a really compelling quality to the set – a reminder of what the twin-male vocal style could sound like before it was polished too much in LA studios in the 70s – but after it was used for more than just simple 60s pop. Titles include "Generation 70", "My Love Bathes In Silence", "The Finest Poet", "She Catches Me Running", "What Makes Me Love You Like I Do", and "1:25 AM". (White label promo. Cover has masking tape on the top and bottom seams, a bit of clear tape on the spine, and WGN letters on the front.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
