CD (Item 566442) Dagored (Italy), 1963 — Condition: Used

A series of short groovy themes penned by Italian soundtrack composer Franco Tamponi – put together in a mix of styles that's often pretty darn jazzy! The work has some of the whimsy of other Italian comedies from the time, mixed with some of the sharper twists and turns of the best American crime jazz of the 50s – particularly soundtracks that use sax and trumpet lines to underscore a deeper, moodier sort of feeling. Tamponi's music is a real delight throughout – surprisingly rich in feeling, and way more than just the simple repetition of a few main themes that you might find in other scores of the period. A few tunes add in some additional strings, and others kick up the rhythms a bit more – and this reissue of the material also oddly includes a few spoken comments from the control booth. 33 tracks in all – including "Svezia", "L'Altalena", "Balletto Russo", "Amore", "Soraya", "Dalia", "Poinciana", "Cecilia", "La Sbronza", "Black Queen", and "Lulu".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
