SID Chip Sounds – The Music Of The Commodore 64Various
CD (Item 603236) Robot Elephant, Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
Space-age electronics from the early 80s – a host of spare, stripped-down sounds composed on the Commodore 64 computer! For those youngsters out there, the Commodore 64 was probably the first home computer to really offer up some musical opportunities in the years before Apple dominated the market – a simple, but really effective way to manipulate sounds that still have a very analogue electronic quality – one that's further enforced by the relatively simple, limited way the Commodore let you put together a song! Many of the tracks here were initially done for video games or other computer activities – so there's plenty of Atari generation sounds in the mix – and titles include "Last Ninja" and "Trap" by Ben Daglish, "Giana Sisters" and "Katakis" by Chris Huelsbeck, "Glider Rider" and "Panther" by David Whittaker, "Gauntlet" and "LED Storm" by Tim & Geoff Follin, "Comic Bakery" and "Parallax" by Martin Galway, "Dominator" by Matt Gray, and "Commando" by Rob Hubbard. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
