LP (Item 385281) Deja Vu (Italy), Early 60s — Condition: New Copy

Lively Latin work from Venezuelan drummer Frank Hernandez – cooked up in a style that rivals the best New York Latin sides of the time! As with other Hernandez albums, Frank's work on the drums and timbales is at the forefront of the session – giving the record a snapping groove that shows up on every single cut, and creates a rhythmic pulse that moves nicely even through the mellower numbers. There's a fair bit of vocals on this set – but mostly in the chorus type, in a way that augment the strong early 60s Latin rhythms laid down by Frank and the group. Titles include "Jicotea", "Yeah Yeah", "Los Viejitos", "Guasabeando", "Yalel Yalel", "Labios De Azucar", and "San Fernando". (Heavy vinyl, heavy cover – and a beautiful reissue that's totally worth the price!)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
