Compendium Records – Norway's First Progressive Record Store & Label 1974 to 1977Various
CD (Item 541826) Plastic Strip Press (Norway), Mid 70s — Condition: New Copy
A beautiful tribute to Compendium Records – first a store, then an important label in Norway during the 70s – home to a wicked range of jazz and progressive rock sounds! Compendium's store had a great reputation for bringing in imports from the UK and beyond – especially some of the more important leftfield artists of those crucial early 70s underground years. So when the label got its start, it was actually with a Henry Cow album – before then branching out into work from some local talents, and some important jazz rock material as well. The package is very nicely done – words and images of the store and label at their height – with tracks that include "Oslo" by Henry Cow, "Watching Everybody Else" by Blow Out, "Spanish Knee" by Hugh Hopper, "Street Talk" by Vanessa, "Steam" by Karin Krog & Archie Shepp, "Peace In The World" by Charles Austin & Joe Gallivan, "Come Down" by Saluki, and "Seven Drones" by Hopper, Dean, Tippett, & Gallivan. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
