This fine set of roots kicks off with the original Studio One version of one of Jamaican musics cornerstone riddims, then builds from there, 20 different takes in all, with the almost mournful horn line resounding throughout. The artist that are represented here read like a who's who of every generation of Jamaican music, from top notch Dee Jays like Big Youth and Dillinger, to the jazzy instrumental stylings of Ernest Ranglin, Tommy McCook and Dean Fraser, plus modern roots by the likes of Luciano and Anthony B.
