CD (Item 77627) Blood & Fire (UK), 1969 — Condition: New Copy

Ah, the enduring Satta Massa Gana rhythm! This fine set of roots kicks off with the original Studio One version of one of Jamaican musics cornerstone riddims, then builds from there, 20 different takes in all, with the almost mournful horn line resounding throughout. The artist that are represented here read like a who's who of every generation of Jamaican music, from top notch Dee Jays like Big Youth and Dillinger, to the jazzy instrumental stylings of Ernest Ranglin, Tommy McCook and Dean Fraser, plus modern roots by the likes of Luciano and Anthony B. As with the other fine Blood & Fire issues, this set is long on notes and beautifully packaged, for a mighty mighty set! Includes the Abyssinians "Satta Massa Gana" and "Mabrak", Bongo Herman "Thunderstorm", Big Youth "I Pray Thee", Lloyd Charmers "Charming Versions", Prince Far I "Wisdom", Bernard Collins "Satta Me No Born Yah" and "Satta Don", Dillinger "I Saw Essau", Tommy McCook "Mandela", U Roy "Blessed", Luciano "Man Of Jah Order", Natural Black "It's A Joy", Yami Bolo "Conspiracy", Capleton "Dislocate", Tony Tuff "How Long", Ernest Ranglin "Ranglin Satta", Jah Mali "Corner Stone", Anthony B "Good & Bad" and Dean Fraser "Dahina Dimps".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
