Two funky groovers from Chaquito – aka John Gregory, a very groovy British arranger of the 70s! Spies & Dolls is a cool 70s update on the sort of album that came out often in the 60s – but instead of the usual James Bond themes, this one features a lot more funky action – blacksploitation grooves mixed in with some of the older-styled tunes, all taken into great cop show big band territory by Chaquito! There's a few Brit numbers here mixed in with better-known American themes – and titles include "Bullitt", "The Anderson Tapes", "They Call Me Mister Tibbs", "Our Man Flint", "Money Is", "Shaft", and "The French Connection". TV Thrillers features loads of great 70s tunes, plus a few 60s numbers too – most of them thrillers, as you'd guess from the title – which means a fair bit of crime and cop grooves in the mix! Arrangements are tight, very much in the best spirit of the originals, with lots of great 70s touches – and titles include "It Takes A Thief", "Mission Impossible", "The Name Of The Game", "Hawaii 5-0", "Softly Softly", "Mannix", "I Spy", "Callan", and "Troubleshooters".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
